They're all NUTS!

A while ago, Ice Cube asked me to make sure that SD's family knew that he was going to have a baby.  Being the procrastinator that I am and all the things that I have on my plate, I had talked to some of them but had put off notifying the crazy sister, Susan.who I mentioned in a previous post.

 I put this off because she is the most hate-filled person I've ever met.  She has physically attacked her children's fathers, her brother, her sisters, her parents, and random people in bars.  Her blog heading used to read "trapped at home with kids and hating life".  She has never in the 19 years I've known her - EVER. BEEN. HAPPY.  She's never even content.  Trying to stay within the "low contact" method of information transfer, below is the email I sent to her.

 She then proceeded to post a picture of her brother, SD, on the front of her myspace and posted the heading :  I just told my brothers ex and her kids to F**k off and get a life.  Need I ever say more about his family?  Like I have repeatedly said - They are all NUTS!  My daughter sent her an email and told her that I was trying to be nice.  That Ice Cube was over 18 and I didn't have to notify them at all but she was just like her brother and obviously didn't care.  The response she got from her "aunt" (and believe me - I'm using that term very LOOSELY here) was to go "F**k herself".    Ice Cube sent her an email when he got off work telling her that he had asked me to notify her.  She sent one back to him telling him to "Go F**k yourself u little bastard".  She is totally shot!  I should probably be upset but I'm more amused with the ignorance shown by her.  

On other notes, I have dropped from a size 24 to a size 16 so far.  I'm pretty happy about that idea.

Swine Flu and Common Sense

It's getting interesting around here.  Schools and school systems are closing.  Ft. Worth closed all their schools till May 8 I believe.  All sports activities for schools in the state are closed till May 11.  Several other schools are closed and another school district besides Ft. Worth.  We have 2 suspected cases of swine flu in our district.  These have been sent off and I imagine that if they come back as the type A flu virus, we may be closing next.  That could make life really interesting for me next month.  

The boys are due to finish up this school year on June 5.  We pick up the moving truck on June 11.  Utilities in the house are going off on June 11.  The crew is coming on the 12th to start breaking the house apart and moving it to the new property.  Meantime, I'm waiting on a check from the ins company to fix some roof damage from a storm.  Trying to get that taken care of before we move the house.  But the stupid insurance company sent the check to both Cal and the mortgage company so we had to send the check off to the mortgage company and now we're waiting on them to get it sent back.  

I'm of two minds with this flu stuff.  I've been following it pretty closely.  On one hand, I enjoy it when the boys are in school.  I like the peace and quiet.  I like the time to putter around the house and I need my time.  Especially when I'm having bad days with my joints.  And with the storms and humidity that we've had lately, I'm not moving well.  Nasty cold, wet weather always seems to aggravate the disease and cause me problems.  And I prefer not to be a total witch to my kids but when I'm hurting, I don't have as much patience as I do normally.  Things that I might normally laugh at....  well, lets just say my sense of humor suffers along with my joints.  And I don't like the kids to see it.  On the other hand, the rain is almost gone.  The kids won't die if I bite their heads off a time or two (or ten) and I have a child who catches everything that goes around.  And a regular virus that might knock me out for 24 hours or knock Little Man down for a day will knock B out of commission for a week.  No exaggeration.  A few years ago when the flu vaccine was rationed- he was one of the first people to get it.  He gets so sick from things like that that not only did he get a flu shot- they made the older boys get one for fear that they'd carry it home to him.  He tends to not react normally to antibiotics and that's a cause for concern with his Dr. too.  Remember, he just missed a week of school last month over some crap that was floating around the germ infection place they call a school.  

A normal flu bug usually knocks him out for 7-10 days or ends him in the hospital.  I have to admit a fear of what this flu would do.  On the same lines, I sure don't want Little Man out and about bringing the stuff home to him either.  I'm pretty anal about cleaning around here with his issues to start with.  Allergies with him if not totally controlled lead to sinus infections in about 3 days which again will keep him home sick for days.  I dust constantly, bleach things down on a regular basis and usually even mop with bleach water.  But, the dang kid is allergic to dust so keeping the dust down around here is just common sense if I want him out bothering his teachers and not driving me nuts.  You'd never know if from looking at him would you?  He's definitely not underfed and wasting away.  He takes 3 meds on a daily basis with a 4th one for his asthma for emergencies.  UGH!  

He informs me that there are people sniffling, sneezing, and coughing all over the school.  He says that there are like "50 kids sick" right now.  6 kids missing out of his class yesterday.  They were in the same class all day for the state testing.  I'm caving.  As soon as he's done with his TAKS testing today, I'm picking him up.  Him and Little Man both.  We'll wait out the weekend and see how this plays out.  If he weren't already at risk, I wouldn't be nearly as concerned.  But, he is and I am.  Part of what concerns me is that he tells me that the one kid from the other jr high who is out sick being tested....  that child's mom works in the lunch room as his jr. high.  Ok now- can we show some sense?????  If you child is out being tested for swine flu, why are you going to go to work working with food for 1000 other kids?????  There has to be a happy medium here.  No, you don't want to panic and over-react.  But can we show some common sense and not do stupid stuff to spread the stuff?  Well, off to get all my cleaning done before I have the monsters home for an undetermined amount of time.  I imagine if the tested cases come back positive for swine flu - then the schools will shut down effective Monday and I'll be stuck with my brats for an unexpected week of vacation for them.  (and an unplanned week of headaches for me).  Oh well, better that than another trip to the hospital right?
