Mom of many heading into empty nest syndrome- come enjoy the ride!

About Me

My photo
Little Town in the middle of Nowhere, Texas, United States
I'm a mom of 4 boys: Jay who's 30, Jory who is 27, Tim is 25, and B is 23. I also have a daughter, Kristi who is 33. I have a grandson, Little Bit/Elmer, that was born in July 2009. I have a new grandson who was born in September of 2017. We moved from North TX to East TX on the land of our dreams in '09 and I love the peace and quiet. It's so nice to have trees again after 11 years of flat and hot. I enjoy hanging out with my friends. I'm a huge baseball fan. Some might even call me obsessed with the game. ;) My favorite teams are the Rangers and the Red Sox. Being a Red Sox fan makes life interesting as all 4 of my boys are Yankee fans. (Basically, I only started cheering for the Red Sox to give the boys a hard time and then actually became a fan) I'm a happily single (well...divorced) mom.

quick update

I've caught the bug and am not feeling very well at all so .... forgive my absence.

Mom is home and doing well.

My car broke down to the tune of $220 3 weeks before Christmas!  YUCK!!!!  It would have been much worse had the cousins not been the ones to fix it so thank you to them.  However, it put a HUGE crimp in my Christmas budget so....  Thank goodness the boys no longer believe in Santa! And that they shop for each other!

The papers for the property have been signed, faxed and the loans approved.  The land should be ours by Christmas!  So moving we will be.

The new addition to the family that I spoke about on Thanksgiving is that Ice Cube's gf, Ms R is expecting.  Mixed emotions that I will get into at a later date.  She still has yet to break the news to her family which I have offered to be there for.  Guess I'm a masochist because I imagine that this is NOT going to go as well as it did with our family.  Basically because I was in shock and never got to the yelling part..... yet.  If my son doesn't straighten his act up and find a really good job really quick- then it's going to get ugly.  :)   He doesn't have time to be a boy anymore- he needs to jump right over young adult and into man.

Hope everyone's having a good week!

land

The well house.  The roof needs replaced and don't even ask me why it's been used as a garbage dump......  Also, someone ripped the fuse panel apart and it has to be fixed.  Ms. P asked for these repairs in the contract.
This is the 1st clearing with 2 driveways.  See the nasty semi truck they left us.  They are also removing it along with the pile of garbage you see behind it.
Along one of the paths thru the land.  Yes, that is sir B partially in the picture.  Pretty path- pretty trees- garbage dump.  This particular dump is a whole pallet of bags of concrete that are now blocks of concrete and someone's old carpet.
This is in the 2nd clearing.  The remains of a house that has been burnt to the ground.  Of course they just left the mess.
See the pretty scenery?  See another pile of garbage just left to ruin it?  This one looks like someone pulled their pick-up in here and just pushed everything out of the bed onto the ground. The black thing in the back is actually a tool box for the back of a pick-up.
More pictures walking down the path.  Notice the garbage randomly lying around in the back ground.  Whomever owned this before had a decided lack of respect for their property and the environment.

Going forward, P and S will be known as Vix and Cal.  Vix and I have been best friends and "sisters" since I was in high school.  She and Cal, who I've also known since I was in high school, are the god-parents of my brats.  We plan to embark on this adventure together.  Their financing.  B and I to take care of a lot of things that they are unable to do.  Cal has MS.  He has been wheelchair confined since before their marriage 21 years ago.  So, vix has limited time to take care of some of what will need done.  All of this is still pending contract negotiations at this point.

So, I woke up yesterday with an earache (at 4  - FOUR a.m.).  We took vix's car to the property on Sunday and she has a convertible.  Of course we went with the top down.  Dumb me!  With my history of ear infections - that was really stupid of me.  So, my prescription wasn't ready at the time I had to take B to physical therapy.  Of course traffic was so bad that I couldn't make it back before the pharmacy closed.  So, I called Ice Cube and asked him to please run by the pharmacy and pick up my prescriptions.  No problem to this point right?  He- being the good young man he is- says no problem mom.  Then Ms. R's dad calls.  He mandates that they have to pick up younger brother from football practice.  This, of course, puts a kink in the kids plans and my prescriptions end up at Ms. R's house.  Till.  MIDNIGHT.  At about 11- the mean side of mom came out and I about turned into the girl from the exorcist when I called IC wanting to know when he might bring that antibiotic home.  As I had then been up for 19 hours at that point- IN PAIN.  He left to come home shortly after that but by then I couldn't get to sleep and it was after 1 before I finally got my eyes closed.  Needless to say- you would probably be glad to NOT know me at this point of this morning.   I wish I was the type of person who could go back to sleep after waking up in the morning.  But, I think I'm going to try to imitate a vegetable today and just be a bum.  ;)

One more thing before I close out the marathon post.  I was asked yesterday about child support or my lack thereof.  I actually talked to them yesterday afternoon and the private company would like to just "close the case".  They feel there's no way for them to collect as he's "filed for social security" and neither of his parents are "willing to pay his support for him".  Additionally, he has "no property or belongings in his name" so they see "no way to collect any money from him" because if he IS working- he's "working under the table" - like no shit- we knew THAT!    So, at this point, the only way my kids will EVER see a dime from him is if he should die before they turn 18.  Which means it's too late for some of them.  Do NOT take that statement as a wish that he would die- it's NOT.  It's a statement that - he will never pay support and as he's going to prison in Feb (I would say there's a better than 90% shot of that at this point)- then I'm sure that the kids will NEVER see a dime from their sperm donor.  Some men (and women) don't deserve to be called a "parent" and he turned into one of them.

Have a good day all

could anything else.....

go wrong?  I hate to even type that knowing that I may have just jinxed myself.

Little Man finally got his car up and running.  Got his license.  I took his car when I got home the other night and got it inspected.  The next morning while he was driving himself and B to school----a dumb idiot ran a stop sign and took the whole front end off his car.  Yes, the insurance company says it's totaled.  Of course, the lady LIED and claims that she stopped at the stop sign.  Yea, like they can't TELL that you would have had to be going much faster than your little piece of shit car could have accelerated from a dead stop in 10 feet to totally RIP THE FRONT END OFF HIS CAR.  Yes, the boys are ok.  Thank God for the cousins who came down and dealt with the police and getting the car back to our house so that I could still get to work.  Yes, the car is fixable- as soon as we sort thru the insurance mess caused by the stupid lady LYING.
Ice Cube got a new truck. He got his girlfriends dad to co-sign this for him and went and got a Dodge 1500.  Because of course this is what you do when you are down to 2 payments to have your last truck paid off.  You go buy a more expensive one even though you were BARELY making the bills on the cheaper truck (did I mention 2 more payments and it was paid off????) And you do all this without talking to your MOM about it first because of COURSE she is stupid and has NO say so as you spend money you can't afford.  And then to make things better- quit your job because your boss is an "asshole" before making the first payment.  Because that is the ADULT thing to do.  Right?  (yes that is sarcasm dripping from every word).
Then when I talk to my mom tonight she mentions that her Dr. wants her to come in for more tests.  What do you mean more tests mom? I ask.  Well, she had an ultra sound and apparently needs more tests.  An ultra sound on what I ask.  Her chest and neck.  Great.  Just bloody great.  She had breast cancer several years ago.  This has been in remission for over a year now.  But she decided that the anti-cancer pill she was taking was too expensive and she didn't want to take it any more.  Besides, it was only good for stopping BREAST cancer- nothing else so what good was it?  Her words not mine.  I'm a thinking that this is NOT good and I'm not going to like what happens next.
And then- my bestest friend and the kids god-mother tells me that we may be moving.  How does she dictate this you ask.  Well, when we left ex- they bought my house.  This was done 10 years ago and our plans were always to buy some land in the country and build a bigger house.  We just haven't found the property until now.  And maybe this piece won't work out either.  But in the way of dreams- when you wait on one for so long- sometimes you stop believing in the power of the dream.  We've settled in here for so long- it almost seemed like a dream that would never come true.  Now I wonder if we're too old to fulfill what we always wanted to do.  But if you stop dreaming- what do you have to live for?  So, if we get the property, we will move my house down to the property and I will live there while they build the big house.  I will be the one that does the day to day supervising while PJ and S stay here.  B loves the idea.  Almost 50 acres of woods- 4 wheelers to ride- things to explore.  LM HATES the idea of moving which I totally understand.  He doesn't want to change high schools.  I am SO torn.  My dream is to move to the country.  The land is only a few hours from here so it's plenty close enough to come back any time.  But I don't want my LM to be unhappy either.  B wants to move so badly - he can taste it.  No matter what I do- someone will be unhappy.  PJ, S,  and I have talked about this for 20 years.  But at the same time- the thought of change scares me.  And then I think- why worry about it yet- we don't even have the financing set yet and it might not come thru.  So, why stress YET?  And the other 2 boys are talking about getting an apartment together anyhow.  But IC did say that he and Ms R may move down there with us if there's a college around there for Ms R.  But, way close enough for weekends and holidays together.
Well, off to watch the end of the Red Sox- Angels game and then to bed.  Hope you all have a great week!
