Mom of many heading into empty nest syndrome- come enjoy the ride!

About Me

My photo
Little Town in the middle of Nowhere, Texas, United States
I'm a mom of 4 boys: Jay who's 30, Jory who is 27, Tim is 25, and B is 23. I also have a daughter, Kristi who is 33. I have a grandson, Little Bit/Elmer, that was born in July 2009. I have a new grandson who was born in September of 2017. We moved from North TX to East TX on the land of our dreams in '09 and I love the peace and quiet. It's so nice to have trees again after 11 years of flat and hot. I enjoy hanging out with my friends. I'm a huge baseball fan. Some might even call me obsessed with the game. ;) My favorite teams are the Rangers and the Red Sox. Being a Red Sox fan makes life interesting as all 4 of my boys are Yankee fans. (Basically, I only started cheering for the Red Sox to give the boys a hard time and then actually became a fan) I'm a happily single (well...divorced) mom.

blessed to have....

Met up with Ruth today and Elmer went back to his mama.  As time goes on, this has become easier between Ruth and I.  We are free to still care about each other and to chat now.  Elmer started to cry saying "memaw don't leave me" and I was able to smile and tell him - I'm not leaving you silly.  You're going bye bye with mama.  You go have fun.  Ruth was taking him to go meet up with her boyfriend and they were going to take him fishing tomorrow.  Once she said fishing Little Man and I told Elmer- you don't want to miss going fishing.  And LM told him- go eat a gold fish.  He started giggling and went out the door with his mom and a smile.  Ruth gave me her work schedule for the next 3 months to make exchanges easier.

When I met up with Ruth today, we met at a restaurant.  Well, then my friend Jean showed up and I wanted to stay and visit for a few.  LM asked Ruth if she'd drop him off at Vix and Cal's so he could visit with his aunt and uncle.  Ruth kindly agreed to drop LM off over there so I could stay at the restaurant and visit with Ms Jean some more.  When Cal heard that Ruth was bringing LM, he told Vix that maybe Ruth would let him see Elmer for a few.  She not only let Elmer go visit for a few.... when I got done visiting with Ms Jean and got over to Vix and Cal's house, she was still there visiting.  Vix said that they had a very good visit.  Ruth told me the same thing later on the phone.  It is so much easier to get along than to be at war constantly.  Am I stupid naive enough to think that there will never be issues?  Obviously not.  It's still much easier for me to talk to Ruth than for Ice Cube to do it.  But they still talk at least weekly.  IC still cares for her a great deal and she still wants what's best for him.  They encourage Elmer to talk to whichever parent he's not with.  When Ruth calls to talk to the baby when he's here, IC will chase him thru the house with the phone telling him to talk to his mommy.  Elmer is a typical 2 year old.  Sometimes when he gets the phone - he won't give it back and he'll jabber away for 10 minutes.  Sometimes he's busy with something else and could care less to have anything to do with the phone.  When he acts like that- IC will put it on speaker phone and keep it close enough that he can hear his mama.

There was the positives for today.  The negatives are so bad that I don't even know how to post about them yet.  Hurricane quit his job and has made some questionable choices.  He had a bad morning and in typical Hurricane fashion, he reacted to things and didn't think his actions thru.  I am upset... torn up... and unable to even think about what all happened let alone make enough sense out of it to post about it.  Donna has emailed me today several times asking me what happened.  I can't even answer her because I don't know.  So excuse my absence (once again) yesterday.  I was dealing with kid drama (again what's new).

Anyhow, between driving for 7 hours today and the emotional roller coaster that I suffered thru yesterday, I'm feeling a bit battered.  And that might be putting it mildly.  On my way home from meeting up with Ruth today - my social networking status was "Survived yet another trip to the concrete jungle.  Now back home to trees and peace and the world series game"  Yeah- about that.  I got the trees and peace.  And criminal minds and last nights NCIS.  No World Series game.  Apparently, it's raining in St Louis.  About that.... how about sending some of that rain stuff this way?  We need it more than St Louis does anyhow and that's two... 1 - 2 ....TWO post season games postponed by rain this year.  My Rangers are only one game away from their first World Series title.  This has been a series for the record books.  I'm over here dying folks.  Really?  They're making me wait another night to see this?  Cruel and inhumane punishment.   Hmph.  So, if anyone had any doubts as to what I would be doing tomorrow night- erase them.  At 7:05 CT, they will be throwing out the first pitch in game 6 of the World Series.  I will be glued to the tv either cheering or cussing bemoaning how my team does.  :)  Hope everyone has a good night!
