About Me

Little Town in the middle of Nowhere, Texas, United States
I'm a mom of 4 boys: Jay who's 30, Jory who is 27, Tim is 25, and B is 23. I also have a daughter, Kristi who is 33. I have a grandson, Little Bit/Elmer, that was born in July 2009. I have a new grandson who was born in September of 2017. We moved from North TX to East TX on the land of our dreams in '09 and I love the peace and quiet. It's so nice to have trees again after 11 years of flat and hot. I enjoy hanging out with my friends. I'm a huge baseball fan. Some might even call me obsessed with the game. ;) My favorite teams are the Rangers and the Red Sox. Being a Red Sox fan makes life interesting as all 4 of my boys are Yankee fans. (Basically, I only started cheering for the Red Sox to give the boys a hard time and then actually became a fan) I'm a happily single (well...divorced) mom.

Ups and Downs

What a weekend.  I'm so happy to be home!  But as much as I enjoyed seeing Hurricane and Ice Cube this weekend- I think it might have been better for me to get a few down days before the invasion visit.  I jest folks - I jest!  It was mostly a good weekend.  IC spent the better part of several days mad at me for asking him a question.  God forbid- I actually acted like a mother and questioned something that I had heard.  It was a rumor.  It was addressed as such.  And I believe that its mostly a matter of who he's hanging out with.  If you're friends with someone who has a reputation - that reputation will spill over onto you.  But how dare I question anything that he says or does?  On the plus side- both IC and H get along with Colby.  Colby and IC had a blast together Saturday night.  They laughed and joked and carried on like fools 2 kids having a blast.  It was good to see him having a good time.  It had been a while since I had seen that side of him.  So much of the time when I was in Old Town this last visit, he was upset or mad.  Ruth is gone a lot.  And not just for work.  She spends a ton of time hanging out with her dad.  So many nights when I was in town, IC was home with the baby while she was out with her dad.  It works for them.  And really, I don't care what they do if they're happy.  If that's what works for them..... it's sure not my place to change it.

Saturday night I got my yard cleaned up a bit more.  B and I drug a bunch of brush up from one of the trees that we lost in a storm.  I turned 5# of hamburger into sloppy joes and let the boys invite some friends over.  The normal crowd mostly.  B's 1st gf came over with another young lady that both she and B are both friends with.  I ended up with a yard full of kids including one with a guitar.  No one argued, no one acted up and I only had one (Colby) end up crashing here.  I have a bunch of kids telling me to hurry up and get those pictures off my camera and up online.  I haven't found my camera cord yet from my last trip back to the metroplex.  shhhhhh - don't tell anyone!  The brush - all gone.  From that tree.  We took one down yesterday that needs cut up.  The boys are going to cut me up some wood next weekend.  That's good cause my firewood supply is sadly depleted from last year.  How do I get my boys to go out there and do hard manual labor you ask?  I ask Colby to help me do something and when he says yes- the 3 boys get out there to do it and I get to kick back and watch.  Good plan yes?

So, both Hurricane and Ice Cube like Colby.  I mentioned that IC and Colby hung out like long lost brothers Sat night.  However, both of them act like they're jealous of Colby too.  I guess they better get over it.  Nanny introduced me to her MIL last night.  Told her MIL that "this is Ms Amy.  She and I are raising 3 boys together (LM, B, and Colby)".  Sunday morning the older boys got up and polished off a box of cereal.  When the 2 younger boys and Colby rolled out of bed then they wanted to go to the cafe for breakfast.  That sounded like a good idea to me!  I had nothing but cereal here.  We invited the 2 older boys to go with, but they wanted "to go hunting".  And I wasn't going to stay home just because they didn't want to go.  So LM, B and I jumped into Colby's truck and off we went.  They went hunting and then left the shotguns propped up against the house and came inside.  I'm less than thrilled about that.

So, good and bad this weekend.  But mostly good.  I got a tree taken down that's been worrying me.  I can get the top on the chicken pen now.  I got a ton of brush out of the back yard cleaned up.  I had a boatload of kids here Saturday night and everyone behaved.  The boys cleaned up after the party without me begging, pleading or screaming.  And I had a good weekend with the boys.  Now off to do the ONE thing still left from the party Sat night.  My kitchen floor.  Ugh.  Was no use mopping it yesterday with the boys doing yard work and coming in and out and the 2 older boys still here so .... today's headache.  Hope y'all had a great weekend!
