Mom of many heading into empty nest syndrome- come enjoy the ride!

About Me

My photo
Little Town in the middle of Nowhere, Texas, United States
I'm a mom of 4 boys: Jay who's 30, Jory who is 27, Tim is 25, and B is 23. I also have a daughter, Kristi who is 33. I have a grandson, Little Bit/Elmer, that was born in July 2009. I have a new grandson who was born in September of 2017. We moved from North TX to East TX on the land of our dreams in '09 and I love the peace and quiet. It's so nice to have trees again after 11 years of flat and hot. I enjoy hanging out with my friends. I'm a huge baseball fan. Some might even call me obsessed with the game. ;) My favorite teams are the Rangers and the Red Sox. Being a Red Sox fan makes life interesting as all 4 of my boys are Yankee fans. (Basically, I only started cheering for the Red Sox to give the boys a hard time and then actually became a fan) I'm a happily single (well...divorced) mom.

randomness

I started a new medicine today.  They're trying something new because after several tests to eliminate other things, the Dr thinks I have fibromyalgia.  Cause don't you know, the joint disease by itself wasn't enough of a headache.  Here's what I know - so far, the medicine is making me feel worse than I already did.  I imagine that tossing it in the garbage after one day would be considered an over-reaction though so... I'll give it at least another day.

My nephews, who I am deciding are both brain dead, have decided to have a 2 keg party.  This affair is going to run from Friday night until Sunday morning or the police break it up whichever comes first.  My money is on the police making an appearance.  Ice Cube is wisely avoiding the event.  B has no intention of going which is a good thing because I would take his truck keys first.  I imagine Little Man will be the fool brave one.  Gotta love these boys.

Sorry this is so random tonight.  I am enjoying the peace and quiet still.  B has been sick and got some of his make-up work today so he is at the table laboring away on his Spanish.  Little Man and Ice Cube took off with some friends.  B and I are going to watch X-factor after he gets his Spanish done.  Or at least a good chunk of it.  He has till Monday to finish it up but I wanted him to complete at least 1/2 of it tonight.  What's wrong with B this time?  Bronchitis again.  Luckily, we're not looking at pneumonia this time - at least not yet.  He's doing breathing treatments, inhalers, antibiotics, and his allergy meds.  Trying to keep track of all his medicines when he's sick is enough to require them being written down.  Actually, it would be more honest to say that I have an easier time keeping track of his stuff than mine.  He gets sick and I have no problem making sure/reminding him to take his stuff on time but I'm liable to forget one of mine then.  Yeah, I'm a ditz.

Well, he's finished 5 of the 8 pages.  We're going to take a break and watch some tv together and he can work on it more in a bit.  I'm not sure how he's still doing it.  I'm only helping to read some of the things and I'm already brain tired.  Hope everyone had a good hump day!  The weekend is coming up and next week is a short week here in the US.

   Keep smiling all!

sunday ramblings

B is due home today. This makes mama very happy. I have missed my baby dreadfully. Not to mention, there have been occasions where his brothers aren't very respectful of the rules that I have set. Now, when called out on this, I always hear "yes mom, I understand" and "it will never happen again". Because I was born last night and I so believe them right?

So, I got most of my strawberry plants in the ground yesterday. I still have a dozen left but those will be done today. I just need Little Man to move the other big tote that I am going to use. My next project will be tomato plants. I'm planning on getting some thorned blackberry or raspberry plants to use as a natural fence. Not only do they make a great natural fence line, they're pretty, they smell good, and then we get good things to eat. One of the things I have yet to find, is no sugar added raspberry or blackberry jam.

Little Man's work is still not giving him the hours that he wants or needs. So he is once again on the great job search. He's in on the computer working on a school test right now.

Ruth and Ice Cube are doing well. They are finally starting to come out on top. They have dug out of the hole of horrible debt that they got into when they moved back to old town. They are saving to buy a 2nd car right now. Little Bit is doing well. He's 8 months old now. He's crawling all over the place. He can take the walker all over the house. He loves to clap and thinks its abuse when he's not the center of attention. Of course, with his doting uncles - he usually is the center of attention. They are bringing B home tonight so I am going to get to see the sweet baby if only for over-night.

B and Ice Cube are at the game room with Little Bit while Ruth is at work and then they're all headed this way.

Hurricane and Donna were over at IC's house last night. B was wrestling with Hurricane. Things seem to be moving along in that area. I haven't really asked. It seems safer. Hurricane turned 22 on Friday. I held to my word and didn't go that way for his birthday. It was hard.

Tara's situation is settling down I think. She has her moments where she really misses parts of her life with Tom. Not the bad things! Things like waking up with someone. We haven't heard from Tom since Friday night when Tara informed him that he needed help. She told him that he needed counseling, drug and alcohol counseling and to learn to be a father to his kids. She told him that she couldn't help him anymore. Then she told him good bye and hung up the phone. When he called back, she handed the phone to me. Tom asked to speak to her and I told him that she didn't want to talk anymore right then. He asked me if she was done. I told him that I didn't know. He told me that I did know. I told him that she said she was but that I wasn't in her head and therefor could only go off of what she said. He asked me to tell her that he was sorry so I told her. Her response: "ok". He told me that I must be glad that I finally got what I wanted. I told him that all I had ever wanted was for Tara to be happy and that if he had acted right and done that then it would have been all good with me. He started getting belligerent and started calling me names and cussing and I told him that I didn't have to listen to it. Then I told him that I was hanging up and that I'd ignore any other calls that he made that night and hit the pretty little off button. He hasn't called back since. We can only hope that he finally caught on and will quit calling but I'm not a holding my breath. I imagine that we'll be dealing with the occasional drunken outburst until she changes her pre-paid phone card and changes the number. His mom and sister both tried reaching her for the first few days but when she didn't answer to them, they eventually quit trying. Tara did respond to an email from his mom and thanked his mom for everything that she had done for
her over the years. Tom's mom was good to Tara. Tom's mom supported Tara more during her marriage to Tom than Tom did. That's just sad.

Well, Tara put a cake in the oven. I'm going to go mop the kitchen floor while its baking. She's helping me get things done around here. It's been a rough week and I am behind on my regular things. Doctor's appointments and planting have cut into my tv time you know?

Keep smiling!

American Idol Night! (2)

So, tonight is American Idol night. My boys love this show as much as I do. Little Man had to work tonight and he has requested that I not start the show until he comes home. Do you know how hard that request is to follow? I have several friends that are as nutty about the show as I am *hey Kou!* I gave the boys till 9 to be here (another hour and a half to wait darn it) and then I'm starting it with them or without them.

Today was so beautiful. I got so very much accomplished. The boys did really well with their school work today. Little Man is moving along well. He's looking at a couple of different colleges. I love the fact that he no longer wants to move away from here.

Well, off here to shower and try to sidetrack myself some more before I turn the channel and start watching AI without the kids.

Oh and Sunday's games and visitors. Really well. I think we're going out for dinner sometime this weekend. And he was a really good sport when I laughed at the Cowboys getting their tails kicked across the field. But for those who blamed the loss on Romo~ I have news for you. As I stated before the game- the offensive line for Dallas is horrible. They didn't protect Romo at all. It was like: "Here~ take our QB and beat him up a bit" as they stood aside. And Brett Farve? Well, he did his thing just as I predicted. And did anyone see his "Pants on the ground" little bit in the locker room. That was hilarious! And my Colts? Well, they whipped tail! So, they play the Jets this week. And then, hopefully, on to the Superbowl.

So, Minnie? Are you a Jets fan? Or do you go for the other New York team? The one with that other Manning brother on it. What's his name? Eli? ; ) Personally, I like Eli. So, will this be another rivalry like my Sox vs your over-paid, egotistical Yankees? (yeah yeah, I know they won the World Series. They're still over-paid).

Oh and Minnie- your idea for a get-together? I'm in! Sounds great! Dee? Sharon? What about y'all?

So busy!

We kicked out several hundred drugs screens yesterday. Not as good as we should have done but it took the new guy a few to catch on. I guess we did ok cause we cleared out everyone that showed up. The new guy is going to be ok. He worked well and he caught on fast. I would bet that we're even busier today.

Well, just wanted to drop a short line. The boys are mostly packed up to leave to head home. I'm not sure how the mom in me will be with having my kids several hours from me but next year Little Man might be headed to college so we'll see how I'll handle it. Their safety nets are in place and it's not like we don't have the cells. And it's only for a few days. They'll be back here on Friday if not Thursday.

Hope everyone has a great day!
