About Me

My photo
Little Town in the middle of Nowhere, Texas, United States
I'm a mom of 4 boys: Jay who's 30, Jory who is 27, Tim is 25, and B is 23. I also have a daughter, Kristi who is 33. I have a grandson, Little Bit/Elmer, that was born in July 2009. I have a new grandson who was born in September of 2017. We moved from North TX to East TX on the land of our dreams in '09 and I love the peace and quiet. It's so nice to have trees again after 11 years of flat and hot. I enjoy hanging out with my friends. I'm a huge baseball fan. Some might even call me obsessed with the game. ;) My favorite teams are the Rangers and the Red Sox. Being a Red Sox fan makes life interesting as all 4 of my boys are Yankee fans. (Basically, I only started cheering for the Red Sox to give the boys a hard time and then actually became a fan) I'm a happily single (well...divorced) mom.

Thanksgiving 2010

So, it's Thanksgiving!  Hope y'all have a wonderful day and for those of you on diets, don't sabotage yourselves too much.  ;)

It a bag of mixed blessings around here this year.  Hurricane and Donna are not coming.  This will be the first time ever that H. is not at the Thanksgiving Day table.  Well, couch since I haven't had a table in years.  What happened to my table?  Oh its a boy thing.  One night while I was next door visiting my friend, Sharon, Ice Cube decided that it would be cute to "dukes of hazard" across my kitchen table.  Problem was, IC was like 15 and going on 6 ft tall.  He broke the table legs right off and all of Amy's boys couldn't figure out how to put it back together again.  But they sure did think it funny that IC ingloriously hit the ground with the table.  Donna said that they're not coming because I've been sick.  Which with Cal's physical problems, it really isn't healthy for him to be exposed to any germs.  But, after H's last conversation with me,  I think it was a convenient excuse. Here's the big, bad admission - I don't miss kristi at all after all these years.  She's been off doing her own thing, screwing up her life, and jumping from guy to guy for so long - that I'm used to her not being here.  But Hurricane and Donna?  Donna has been here for the holidays for 7 years.  Hurricane - well, his whole life.

However, on the other side.  Last night a group of kids showed up over here.   Curt came before work.  3 other boys play guitar too and I had an impromptu concert in my living room.  Unfortunately, only Dane had his guitar so they were passing his around but they told me that they're all bringing guitars either tonight or tomorrow.  I don't remember which night they're all coming back.  Knowing this group of kids- probably both nights.  I love having a group of kids sitting around chatting and well, these are boys so they're bragging and talking smack.  But they were also playing pass the guitar and singing.  And they promised me an encore performance so... I know they'll come cheer me up later.  We have also been invited to dinner with Carol and Colby.  My other friend, Sharon, assures me that I'll have a good time once I get there.

And Randi and Cass are coming today.  That will be a good time.  I've missed my Randi and I'm looking forward to seeing her.  And Cass is loads of fun so that will be a good time all around.

Actually, despite the fact that Hurricane won't be here, I'm really looking forward to today.  And with the rest of the weekend bound to be a bit hectic, I'm sure it will be a great weekend full of love, laughter, and friends.  And some kids who appreciate me a bit more than my own do.

Time to get cooking.  I'm making my turkey and fixings tomorrow.  Happy Turkey Day all!

Randomness

~  The viewing for my aunts funeral is tomorrow.  Funeral is Tuesday.  It sucks that I am unable to attend.

~  I don't know whether to be absolutely infuriated by these fools who either think I'm an idiot and won't notice them trying to pop a balloon under them with me standing in the bathroom or to just laugh at how absolutely ignorant they are.

~  I am totally aggravated by Ruth's dad who thinks that because he owns the house, he owns the kids and that just because he wants Elmer to go to his house at 9 PM to stay with his roomie (who is really in no shape to be watching him at all) - that doesn't make it the law.  Especially when the baby is sick and is falling asleep and can be put in his own bed and not moved in the middle of the night.

~  I'm also aggravated by Ruth's dad because when he didn't get his own way and Ice Cube went ahead and we brought Elmer home and put him to bed here- Daddy dearest called Ruth and now the kids are fighting.  And I think that DD (daddy dearest) is going to push and push until he gets what he thinks he wants and doesn't really - cause he's going to be the cause of one fight too many and the kids are going to end up breaking up over his ignorant control freak stupidity.

~  Little Man in a wreck today.  Of course while I'm here.  He was not driving.  He was a passenger.  The truck - totaled.  The 2 girls - taken to the hospital. Little Man's friend, Jason - 2 cracked ribs and sprained wrist.  LM - stubborn boy who refused to get in the ambulance and now is in major pain and can't move his head.  I think I have him talked into going to his regular Dr. tomorrow.  (Talked into = badgering him until he gives in and goes just to shut me up)

~  Hurricane and Donna decided that while I was here (in OLD town)- it would be a good time to take a trip there (NEW town).  Does anyone see any sense in that?  Yeah - but then Donna wants to say that I haven't tried to get to "know her"  - yep cause after 6 years (or more) of her dating my son, I don't "know" her at all.  *please read with any and all sarcasm intended*  Yep and I only found out that they were even headed there when I called to see if they might want to go to the fair today.  Yep.  So glad I bothered.

~  Hurricane and Donna still at my house.  Fighting now between themselves.  This is really helping LM's headache (yeah, I know - Again with the sarcasm).  Now Hurricane is talking about driving back to Old Town tonight.  Yes - at 11:21.  This will leave his injured brother at home all alone with no one there in case of an emergency.  All because Donna is taking quite the fit.  Anyone wanna guess just how happy that will make me?  (I know- more sarcasm - it's one of those nights)

~  I'm a thinking that bed sounds like a good place for me to be right now.  Any place else doesn't seem to be too safe.  I might fall and break something next.  ;)  Y'all have a great Monday.  (I'm really hoping that my Monday goes better than my Sunday did!)

I'm back!

So sorry for being a slacker here lately folks. My mom's younger sister died. I debated posting this. Tara has cut off the entire family at Tom's instigation at this point. I wasn't sure whether or not to even post about the situation where she could read it. However, the knowledge that she obviously doesn't care made my decision for me.

Aunt Sharon was a fun woman. Full of life. She never married. She and my dad (before he passed) used to get into some of the worst contests with joke telling. They both told the most horrid jokes. Little Man was remembering one of the jokes that she told them the last time they saw her. That she had gone on a wine and cheese diet and so far all she'd lost was her drivers license. See what I mean about bad jokes? Of course, the boys all loved it. Sharon had had health issues for years that were all weight related. She had problems with her legs, her breathing, walking. She hadn't been able to walk in years and was stuck in one of those scooter things. These health issues are what eventually took her. My mom tells me that she was happy and joking till the last few days. She and mom got a good laugh out of the things that the boys have found to do for fun hanging out around here. Hog hunting. Mudding. Hanging out at the auction house. Sharon was a sports fanatic. She was so happy that her Colts had made it to the Super Bowl. Despite the distance between us, she really kept up with what the kids and I were up to. Daily phone calls with mom kept her up with a lot. I called Sharon - not as much as I should have - but she always knew who it was on the phone and always knew what we'd been up to. I think what is the saddest, is that she was fairly young. Only in her early 60's. She was a lot of fun and she will be missed!

To add to my pain. Donna picked last night to send me a barrage of stupid texts. I might go into these further on the other site at a different time. Suffice it to say, her timing sucked and it was just one more thing that I didn't want to deal with at that point. Not that I couldn't deal with it- I just didn't feel that it was the time. I was busy talking to my mom who had just spent the night before at her sisters bed side watching her sister die. My mom who has not been healthy herself. My mom who is older than Sharon was. My mom who was the big sis and was in so much pain last night. I would have turned off my phone in a normal situation but Little Man and B were out and about and they have to be able to reach me. So, I am almost ashamed to admit that I was in no mood to deal with the stupidity and gave her an earful. Almost. But not really. For a long time, I have taken the high road with her. I have had to play the adult (because we all know that playing at grown up is not something I enjoy). Last night, I ... well.... Let's just leave it at - I returned text for text and I didn't mince any words.

The boys are at a birthday party tonight. Yes, B was allowed to go. After I totally humiliated him by calling the mom of the girl involved and getting not only their home number (should he fail to answer his cell phone) but making sure that the young lady from the other night would not be attending. Additionally, brother is going over to the same birthday party once he gets off work and the girl who's birthday it is, only lives the next street over from here. The girls mom was very nice and understanding when I spoke to her. So they are there. And I might - just might- get up and drive by there to check on them. ;)

Well, I will try to resume regular posting at this point ladies. I needed a chance to wallow a bit in memories. I am looking for a picture of my aunt to post over at the other site. (let me say here that I have somewhere around 4 thousand pictures on my computer and most of them not labeled well). Have a great weekend!

Real quick

First- on our moving updates. They got in there, got the tires and axels on the house, and got the house broke in 2 and wrapped yesterday. My neighbor girl called me in tears. She was outside with her mom when they split the house and it made both of them sad. I spent about 15 minutes calming her down and making sure she knew that I would be back and would still see her and the kids. I couldn't leave my little ones forever. That youngest one of hers is my baby! Like I told her, the highway runs both ways and she could take $20 and make a trip down to see me and bring the kids! I also got a hold of the county inspector at 8:15 this morning and he is faxing over permission for my electric. YEAH! So, they will be able to get going on doing the upgrade to the service. Hopefully, they will have a chance to get that done by Weds when I am due to actually move into the house. Well, hopefully, I can move in on Weds. I imagine it will depend on how much the guys coming to hook up the propane, water, etc get done. But, at this point- we're shooting for Weds. Which is only one day later than we originally planned on. Cross your fingers for us please!

The hardest thing was Hurricane being upset this morning. He says he feels all alone. He could have followed us down there but he won't leave Donna. And Donna won't leave her parents house. I told him he would never be alone. I live 1000 miles from my mom. And no, it's not always easy. But I don't feel alone. Maybe some day, if he still feels the need to move closer, it will become a reality. But, I imagine that what will happen is that he'll get used to me not being close enough to come running to every time he "needs" $20. It's only a couple hour drive down to the new place and I usually only see him a few times a month now because he's so busy with his friends and job, so I guess he'll have to make time to see me when I come to town, and take one of his days off to come see me. Right?

Well, off to put all the things we've pulled out of the UHaul so that we could stay at Cal and Vix's house back into the thing. Just spoke to the movers and they're not leaving the old place with the house till 9 Am (they have to follow special permits to move it) I'm planning on leaving here at 10 which should give me plenty of time to make it down there before them. Sir Mover told me that it should take them around 6 hours. It should take me about 3. It's going to be a busy couple of days but I'll try to check in at night from the hotel. Take care!

Long week

Well, it was a long week here.  I didn't think it would take me this long to recover from surgery!  It seems I get going - get a little bit done- and then run out of energy.  I've fallen asleep around 5 every night.  I might get back up after that when the kids wake me up wanting fed or something like clean clothes- but I've fallen out.  Mind you now- I'm the one that usually runs on about 5 hours sleep a night.  I usually hit the bed about 2 and get back up at 7.  So then, Donna called me on Tuesday as I'm driving B to physical therapy in hysterics.  That girl gets hysterical over everything.  She's leaving Hurricane and we "need to get over there NOW".  She wants Ice Cube to drop everything and run over there immediately.  Well, Ice Cube's at work.  You know - the job idea- the thing that gets you a paycheck?  But, he's supposed to leave work and drive over to their house right then because she said so.  Well, I drug Vix out of bed and asked her to please go over there and check on things because Donna was hysterical and I couldn't get ahold of Hurricane at all.  Long story short- Hurricane is at the apartment by himself now.  Donna is on the lease for the next 3 months but won't chip in a dime towards the rent.  At the end of the lease, I imagine Hurricane will move back in with Vix and Cal and he is talking about going back to school.  He is heart broken.  Donna way over-stepped with both me and Vix at this point.  She was rude and out of line.  I told her to quit calling me in hysterics and not to text B and put him in the middle of it and she told Hurricane I said "she was never welcome here again and she wasn't allowed to talk to Little Man or B ever again".  Nothing like distorting the truth a bit.   Dang kids!

Well, B has one of his friends from his old team spending the night tonight so I suppose I had better get off here and clean this house.  His friend lives in a very nice house and they have a cleaning lady come in every week.  I mean a very. nice. house.  On the lake with an upstairs wrap around balcony and in -ground pool with people who come and do the yard nice house.  They drive a car that costs more than my house did.  And no, I'm not joking.  So, Off to kill the dust bunnies and make sure the kids bathroom is clean at least.  Don't ask me why I waste my time- do you think a 13 year old will even notice?
