About Me

My photo
Little Town in the middle of Nowhere, Texas, United States
I'm a mom of 4 boys: Jay who's 30, Jory who is 27, Tim is 25, and B is 23. I also have a daughter, Kristi who is 33. I have a grandson, Little Bit/Elmer, that was born in July 2009. I have a new grandson who was born in September of 2017. We moved from North TX to East TX on the land of our dreams in '09 and I love the peace and quiet. It's so nice to have trees again after 11 years of flat and hot. I enjoy hanging out with my friends. I'm a huge baseball fan. Some might even call me obsessed with the game. ;) My favorite teams are the Rangers and the Red Sox. Being a Red Sox fan makes life interesting as all 4 of my boys are Yankee fans. (Basically, I only started cheering for the Red Sox to give the boys a hard time and then actually became a fan) I'm a happily single (well...divorced) mom.

Opening night - 2010

I know, I should be blogging about Easter - right? Ok. It's Easter. I slept till 9:30 this morning after staying up till 3 working on the house. Kristi woke me up. I guess she thought that since Elmer had woken her - that she should share the joy. Next time- I'll pass on that. I love getting up with him in the mornings when I'm with him. But they went at a time when it was absolutely impossible for me to go with. If I had gone down for this trip, I wouldn't have gotten to go down for the wedding. For whatever reason, Little Man has a mental block against common sense. He lost his and can't seem to remember where he put it.

So after sleeping in (cause I am usually up before 7), I relaxed and watched some boob tube for a bit before even considering moving. Then I went out and planted the flowers that I've had for a few days. They have been patiently waiting for me to put them out in the flower boxes where they can make my deck look pretty. I also took time this morning to finish up a book I was reading. B got up and we went in and about finished laying the floor in the room. We maybe have 3 rows left to do. And I was all for finishing it up right then till my very wise and wonderful son told me that we had a game to watch and he wasn't going to move what needed to be moved right then cause I needed to come watch the game with him. Because....

Tonight is opening night for baseball. And the only game playing tonight is my Red Sox against his Yankees. So we're kicked back watching the game. And we're having steak for our Easter dinner.

I have pretty much been in a good mood today. But for some reason Kristi keeps texting/calling me to talk to me about how much fun she is having with the baby. And while I'm glad that she's getting to know him and have a relationship with him now- let's not rub salt in this grandma's bleeding heart. For as much as I have enjoyed this time with B... And I have enjoyed it more than anyone knows right now... I miss Elmer and his smiling face and all the new things that he learns between visits. And with the way Little Man and Kristi left over the holiday - and with all the kids together today minus B and I - it's been a bit of a kick in the teeth to me. And until she calls/texts rubbing it all in how much fun they're having or what they're doing as a family (minus us) - I'm perfectly happy with how this weekend has gone.

B has been an unbelievable sweetheart. He has been helpful, caring, considerate, funny, and patient. Now, like most teenagers, he spends an unbelievable amount of time hiding in his room on his phone (he's discovered girls in a major way), on his computer (those social networking sites you know) and just ignoring my very existence when possible. And he's a 15 year old boy - it doesn't bother me. He's very good at getting his school work done and completed with decent grades. We just finished his English class and he got an 89. I would have preferred anything over a 90 but for a kid who has vision issues and the amount of reading that there was in that class... I'll take the 89. I will also admit that I did quite a bit of reading aloud to him on some of the short stories. But the answer book and questions - all in his hands. This weekend, he has been out in the family room with me. He has watched TV with me. Talked to me. Gone to the store at midnight to get a new circular saw (when the old one stopped spinning and started blowing out black smoke) with me. He's even agreed to get up and go to the pain clinic with me tomorrow. That one is probably so he can get another laugh at me when the doctor chews me a new tail. I hope he takes a bit more off mine while I'm there. ;)

So, the opening day of the 2010 baseball season was tonight. B and I watched. My Red Sox played his Yankees. He was all cocky and full of it when the Yankees were up 5-1. By the top of the 9th when the Sox were up 9-7, he wasn't so cocky. He didn't even Papelbon close out the game. *ha ha snicker .... see me laughing at him* He went and got in the bath instead. Sore loser.

I am such an addict! I dearly love the sport. It doesn't really matter to me who is playing. I just love to watch the game. Ok, although I like some of the players for the Yankees, they are the team that I care to watch the least. The organization seems to be made up of over-paid, egotistical jerks. And yes, I realize that all professional sports players are over-paid and that many are egotistical. But on most teams, you have more nice guys than jerks. On the Yankees, it seems to be a requirement to be a jerk to get that big check. Or is it that getting over-paid more than other teams can afford to over-pay you turns you into a jerk? Ms Minnie- you are a Yankees fan... What's your opinion on the situation here? Love ya lady even if you are a Yanks fan!

I hope all of you had as wonderful of an Easter as I did. And it was a great one. B and I with some one on one time. Things accomplished around the house. Steaks for dinner and a great game. And now watching the "A-team" with my favorite guy. Happy Easter all!

2996

The following is taken directly from the site;

What is 2996?
Project 2,996 is a tribute to the victims of 9/11.

On September 11, 2006, more than 3,000 bloggers joined together to remember the victims of 9/11.

Each year we will honor them by remembering their lives, and not by remembering their murderers.

If you would like to help out, by pledging to post a tribute on your own blog on 9/11 of this year, click the button at the top of the sidebar. Then, use the web to learn something about the life of the name you are given, and on 9/11, post your tribute your blog or website.

But, and this is critical, the tributes should celebrate the lives of these people–kind of like a wake. Over the last 5 years we’ve heard the names of the killers, and all about the victim’s deaths. This is a chance to learn about and celebrate those who died. Forget the murderers, they don’t deserve to be remembered. But some people who died that day deserve to be remembered––2,996 people.

Here's the link; http://project2996.wordpress.com/what-is-2996/

OK folks, this isn't a political blog. It's not going to become a political blog and I'm the type that believes that your political choices and beliefs are all yours and your business. But there comes a time in everyone's life where something touches them enough that we throw it out there. And this is one of those times for me. Tomorrow marks the day that we, as Americans, were attacked on American soil. A day that 2,996 people lost their lives in America due to a terrorist attack. And for the man in the Oval Office to want to change this day to a "National Service Day" is wrong. Its an insult to all the people who lost friends, loved ones, acquaintances. It's an insult to the folks who gave time, energy, money to go there and try to help. So, tomorrow, I will be remembering where we were that day. How it affected our family and our lives. And remembering the people who died that day in a break from my regularly scheduled programming. And if any of you want to join me... Cool! And if you don't... Well, that's cool too!

On another note, Heather of Comparative Childhood was so kind to notice that I changed the look of my blog around a bit. Thank you Heather! I took the picture on the header at the Red Sox game in August. Takashi Saito is the pitcher in the picture and he was so kind as to ham it up for my camera before the game. I loved the picture and decided that with my two favorite teams in a race to see who will win the wild card and go to the play offs this season, it was a good time to post it. Right now, the Red Sox hold a 2 game lead for the wild card over the Rangers. Although I am a Red Sox fan too, this season I would really like to see the Rangers make it to the play offs. Although what I would really like is to see the Rangers take the American League West from the Angels. I don't know that there's much of a chance of that though. Speaking of Rangers, I have to call my wonderful rep and get some tickets for when we're in town next weekend.

Hope y'all have a great day!

short break....

I'm taking a short break to fuel my obsession with baseball. My 2 favorite teams have been playing a 3 game series against each other. I, of course, had to watch at least part of it. Things are going well here around the house. We're getting things done at a good pace. Not that I should be sitting down right now, but hey - no one's perfect. I have all but where I'm waiting on mud to dry painted in the hall way. The whole left hand side of the hall is done and painted. Little Man is busy running off to see his friends and arguing with me about helping so I've decided to ignore his room. He wants it done, he can quit being a lazy tail and help get it done. He and Tom took off to go swimming while Pancho and B helped me finish off the trim work in B's room. All I have left to do in what was his original room is paint one wall and it's done. I am SO happy about that! We got the piece of dry wall replaced this morning where Hurricane had put all his nice holes in it. Wouldn't you know that it was 3 1/2 inches too short for the wall? So, I still have to piece in that bottom couple of inches. I just thought I was done hanging dry wall didn't I?

On other notes, the check from crappy insurance company came in. We got it to the roofers and they have been here at 8 am the last 2 mornings working on the house. Can you imagine how unhappy my children are that there has been someone banging on the roof over their heads on their first two days of summer break? They all got up this morning yelping at me about it. My sympathy level is at an absolute low right now and by the time the third child got out of bed complaining....let's just say my response wasn't very nice. I think I got progressively ruder by the complaint. They were warned and they could go to bed earlier than they did so .... not. my. problem. When things need done - they need done.

My kids are giving me a hard time about our roofer. I will say that I've known this man and his brother for years. About 8 of them. Roofer is a nice guy. Single guy with kids. Custodial parent. We have spent many minutes (hours?) on the phone lately trying to get everything straightened out with the crappy insurance company and get this job going. Our conversations have veered off course a time or ten and we may have talked about other things that just the insurance. So, my brats have started teasing me about "my boyfriend". Their words - definitely not mine. I may or may not have to paint make-up on them while they're sleeping if they don't quit. I must have been too much a hermit the last 11 years since talking to a man on the phone elicits this much attention. Roofer guy is as happily divorced as I am and I'm fairly sure that he has no more attention of ever getting involved with anyone again than I do. So, the kids are barking up the wrong tree on this one. I'm not quite sure why everyone seems to think I would be happier if I were "with someone". Well.... having someone else here to take over all this remodeling stuff would be nice. But, then what would I do with them once the work was done? Just joking folks! I know that most of my friends in blog land are happily married. It just doesn't seem to be the thing for me. I'm no good at marriage. I'm too independent.

Well, the Rangers have almost beat the Red Sox in the rubber match between the 2 teams. I suppose I should get ready to get in there and get that wall painted. I've been too much a bum the last hour anyhow. Y'all take care!

headaches

Flipping channels back and forth between the Rangers (Kansas up by 1 in the 6th inning) and the Red Sox (who were winning by 2 last time I flipped over).

It's Kevin Millwood's first Earned Run this season.  (Rangers pitcher)

Little Man has a friend over and is not real happy because he wanted to watch a movie - not baseball (don't know why I bother to put satellite in their rooms....  guess so they can complain about everything I want to watch)

B is watching baseball and playing his fantasy baseball league.  He's trying to win season tickets for next year.  (don't see that happening)

We have been lying new flooring in the front entranceway today.  I had a 2 x 3 white linoleum floor there that every time you walked in the door and it had been raining- the only place to stand without being a contortionist was to step on the carpet.  This is bad for the carpet as evidenced by the 6 pounds of dirt that was under there when we pulled the section up.  Gross.  Disgusting.  Now, we have a 5 x 5 section where hopefully, they will be able to avoid wet, muddy shoes on my carpet.  Or we will have a 5 x 5 section if I don't lose my mind before it gets done.  I took some pictures part way thru the project.  B picked out a faux woodgrain type tile so we'll see how it looks if I ever get it all done.  And right now thats a big IF>  I also have some nice shots of the pink mud that I am using to fix a few spots where the idiot dog I have decided to scratch my wall.  Hey, if you're going to give yourself a headache then why not do it big right?  The pink mud is pretty cool because it turns white when it dries so that you know when it's safe to play with it some more.  Fun stuff huh?

When I bought my house in Indiana years ago, I bought a house bought during WWI.  It had old horsehair plaster walls.  It was what you'd call a fixer upper.  And that was probably an understatement.  SD and I spent a lot of time tearing down those old plaster walls, redoing the electrical, hanging drywall and designing rooms.  I spent my birthday one year installing a toilet while he left in the middle of the bathroom floor project to go to Florida.  I had the absolutely worst time with the wax ring of that dang toilet and spent probably a good 4 hours that day cussing.  But, it was a 1 bathroom house.  It had to go in.  The boys could only pee out the back door so many times before the neighbors started complaining ya know?  I loved what we had done to that house.  What happened to the house you might ask?  I left it.  I gave it to SD when we got divorced.  I moved and got a new one.  He got the old one foreclosed on.  Yep.  House only had like 4 years left to pay on it when I left and he didn't bother to make the payments and lost the house.  Why would I leave my house you might ask?  Because it was a fixer upper.  And while I was a good follow directions type of girl - physically, there was no way I could have hung ceilings and stuff.  Also, staying in that house would have insured that I spent the next years of my life worrying about what he would do when he got drinking or doing drugs.  A few experiences with him earlier in our time together taught me that 1.  He can kick in a door and stomp the phone faster than I can dial and get the police there.  And 2.  His mom will bail him out of jail before I make it out of the emergency room.  The local police reports tell me that his next woman he moved in there didn't fare any better as there was one report of all the windows in the front of the house being broken out.  So, I left that house.  I have put my own touches on this one over the years.  The things I learned working on that old fixer upper house have worked well for me here.  When boys bored and stuck in the house while it rains for a week straight decide to play ball in the house and put a hole in the wall.... I know how to fix it.  I'm not afraid to change out a plug or light switch.  I know enough about plumbing to cut and fix a CPVC pipe.  Just don't let me play with anything sharp.  I don't do real well with sharp objects.  I always end up cutting myself while playing with sharp objects.

Well, back to alternating between watching the game and cussing the flooring.  Here's hoping that the end result is worth it.  In other words, hoping that the boys and I do a good enough job to not be embarrassed when people see it.  Take care all!

sick kid

B has been home sick all week.  He hasn't been to school since last Thurs.  Well, he did try to go yesterday.  They kicked him back out before 11.  The nurse didn't like the way his eyes looked.  She didn't like the way he sounded.  She didn't like the way he looked at all.  So, they called me.  At least he got his test taken before he got sent back home.  He'll be staying late and going in early for a week to make up all the time he's missed.  I think he could have gone to school today but once they send them home with a fever, they can't go back for 24 hours.  Last night he worried me a bit when he was telling me that he was having trouble breathing.  As those of you who have asthmatic children know, that breathing thing sends a shock down thru your heart.  Especially with B, he was hospitalized so many times as a small child.  So many nights in the hospital.  Oxygen tents, breathing treatments, CPT therapists....  Even though he's outgrown most of it, I still have flashbacks when he gets sick.  After starting antibiotics yesterday (Dr. thought he had a virus) and sleeping 12 hours straight last night, he seems to be on the mend today.  He's back bugging me about food which is the first sign that he's on his way back to being his normal brat self.

Rangers won their first opening day game in 5 years.  They really kicked tail beating Cleveland 9-1.  Yankees got beat by the Orioles 10-5.  This tickles me.  The boys not so much.  All 4 of them are Yankee fans.  I wanted to rock the boat so I became a Red Sox fan.  And then, the more I watched them- the more I liked them.  And then came Papelbon and I love his attitude.  His personality.  The cockiness he has.  And the Sox- they won their opening day game yesterday.  5-3.  And no amount of razzing from my rotten offspring could ruin it.  Because their team lost and mine won.  Hee hee.  Tonight I have tickets to the Rangers game.  $1 hot dog night.  That ought to be really cheap for me.  One hotdog is about all I can handle.  I don't feel like I'm losing weight, but since I'm changing pants sizes, I must have lost something.
Well, off to go to lunch with a friend.  I don't know why I made plans for today because I'm really not in the mood to go anywhere.  But, I made plans so I guess I'll go get ready.  I'm sure I'll have a great time once I get there.  Sometimes, I'm just a home body.

Congrats Jonathan Papelbon

Congrats to Jonathan Papelbon for getting the largest contract for a first time pitcher eligible for arbitration ever!  I admit that he is my favorite player.  I love his enthusiasm and his dancing.

Congrats on that 6.25 mil and I hope the Sox are smart enough to ink him to a long term deal!

another day

It's been a while.  I'm just not used to being gone from my house so much.  And the people.  Oh the people.  Why is it the few that are weird that stick in your memory?  The ones that try to convince us that their vitamins MUST have given them the cocaine line.  Or it was the muffins that they ate for breakfast giving them the positive marijuana strips.  I would say that B has gotten a definite eyeful being up at the office with us.  He went out on the Midway last Sunday and blew $20 on the games.  He came back with a 2 foot tall dog and a basketball.  Apparently, he has quite the luck with the games.  He won the basketball on his first shot.  It took him a few shots to knock all 3 cup things down with one ball to win the dog.  So now I have a HUGE dog hanging on my bedroom wall.

Little Man finally got his license.  Another headache for momma.  More stuff to worry about.  Another kid out on the roads.  Beware all drivers!  ;)  Cousin B finished his car today and I took it to get inspected and dropped it off at his work.  He's so very happy.  If he doesn't change his ways- he'll have his license shorter than any kid in history.  His mouth has been over-loading the rest of his anatomy lately and I'm not one to put up with it.  He's 16 so of course he knows EVERYTHING and can solve all the problems in the world with his infinite wisdom.  Yeah- right.

Then of course, on top of everything else- the heathen children I have to claim have been so kind as to infest me with some awful type germs they brought home from the germ palace that our district calls a school.  B and I can both be healthy All. Summer. Long.  But no! The state insists that I send them to that colony of infestation filled with snot nosed, germ filled, bodies with no concept of personal hygiene and I end up feeling like my body has been taken over by aliens armed with tiny hammers.  It's enough to make home schooling sound like a good idea.  ;)

To all my online friends- I miss you.  I am keeping up with your blogs even if I haven't been able to comment as much as I'd like.

Congrats to my wonderful Red Sox for their win last night in their first game.  I saw a GREAT picture of Papelbon today from the win last night.  Unfortunately, thanks to the nasty germs I was infested with- I missed the end of the game.  :-(

weird

I fell asleep last night and the Sox were winning.  Pap was coming into pitch.  How I fell asleep right then - I'll never figure out because Pap is my favorite pitcher and I love to watch just to see what he'll do.  Then I woke up at 3:30 this morning - looked at the scores and ....  They hit a HOME RUN off Pap??  I thought I had to have read it wrong.  But, nope- they hit a home run off Pap.  Now I'm glad a fell asleep because I sure wouldn't have wanted to see that!

On my way in for the stupid x-rays after I drop the boys off at school.  I hate to waste the time and the money to do them because I know that the dumb thing isn't broken.  But, I guess that's what they're trying to confirm before going on to finding out  which ligament gave way this time.  Guess it's time to play another round of the joint disease game.

Have a great day all!

xrays and MRI's oh my

Okajima in the Bullpen during a game vs the Rangers
Tim Wakefield warming up to pitch against the Rangers
Justin Masterson, Jason Varitek, Jonathan Papelbon, and Okajima watching the game vs the Rangers.

So, I went to see the primary care Dr today.  Somehow I found time around Hurricane having his wisdom tooth impact and desperately needing me to get him a dental appointment and B home sick with a virus and then my brainiac (said with sarcasm today) Little Man having to come home from school early for punching a wall.  Yes, I said a wall.  Dumb. stupid. hormonal. teenager.  Some guy told his girlfriend that he cheated on her so she dumped him.  I suppose rather the wall than the guy that lied.  But still....  Should I repeat?  Dumb.....  At least it was the school nurse calling me and not the principal right?  Always have to find the bright side of the picture.

He gave me a prescription for some xrays, something to take down the swelling and then called my orthopedic.  Still can't get into see him for a few days but we tried.  Dr said I would probably need an MRI too.  Yuck!  I hate those dang things.  Here's hoping we find a break!

Got the initial phone call from the Support place today.  Yippee!  They needed a copy of my child support order which was included in the divorce.  I sent her a 16 page fax back within 10 min of talking to her.  She called me back again and said that their investigators would be starting on it this week.  I am supposed to check back with them in a month if I haven't heard anything.  I almost feel badly for his mom and dad who will be fielding phone calls from the investigator but ....ummmmm not really.  Maybe I would if at any point and time in the past 15 years they had remembered my kids birthdays or Christmas but since  they haven't called to talk to my kids or sent them so much as a 50 cent card....  Well, I don't feel as badly as I should?  I heard from his one cousin that his mom is suing him over a car wreck.  He had his car titled in his mom's name so that there was no record of him owning a vehicle.  Why would he do that?  So child support couldn't put a lien on it.  So, he made a deal with his mom that he would pay the insurance for her car if she would hold the title on his car - he'd pay all the insurance and they would both be listed as drivers.  Well, his girlfriend, we'll just call her Ursula, has no drivers license.  I have no idea why at her age she doesn't.  Maybe she did and it got suspended?  No idea.  Anyhow, Ursula was not supposed to be driving the car at all with no license.  She drove the car anyway and wrecked the car.  Then she fled the scene.  So, whomever sued his mom.  Personally, I think that's what she gets for getting involved in helping him avoid child support.  Well, now I hear that she's suing him because it was her driving and he's the one that let her drive the car or some such garbage.  Well, we'll see what happens with the private company.

Well, off to see if Boston can come back to take the lead from Tampa BEFORE the rain shuts the game down.  Have a good night all!

Monday updates

This is my most absolutely favorite player.  I think because he still has FUN with the game.  So many pro's are jaded and he is just full of fun.  Dancing and joking around.  There's a great you tube video of him dancing last year.  I took this picture of Mr. Jonathan Papelbon yesterday at the Rangers/Red Sox game.  He was warming up to go in to pitch in the 9th inning.

B pitched on Saturday.  He threw a compete game no-hitter.  He probably threw more pitches than I should have let him go but he didn't want to come out.  He got a hit or a walk every at bat.  Coach let him call his own pitches.  So, he did ok.  Would have been better had he not hit a few batters.  ;)  But he did his thing and I was really proud of him.

So, Sat night, B and I went to the Sox - Rangers game with P and S, the kids god-parents.  S has MS and doesn't get out to do things a lot.  He doesn't have a lot of energy and going to the game will probably put him in bed for several days but he had a good time.  B was able to answer any and all questions that S had and they carried on a good conversation.  He thought they were booing when Youkilis came up to bat and everyone started screaming "YOOOOOOUUUUUUUUKK".  P and I had camera's out and ready taking pictures and watching the game.  It was nice to get out and do something with them again.  We haven't all gotten out together since we went to Disney over a year ago.

I fell Saturday night and damaged up my body pretty well.  I have that joint disease that makes walking fun sometimes.  I was walking down the sidewalk by the ball stadium and one minute I was walking and the next I was lying on the ground all banged up and embarrassed!  Oh my gosh- I was so embarrassed!  And these nice folks all offered to help me and if I was ok and I just wanted to crawl UNDER the sidewalk and disappear.  My right ankle apparently gave out and I ripped up my left leg from the middle of my shin up to my knee.  My poor hand is all black and blue to from where I put it out to break my fall.  My ankle looks like a cantaloupe.  I really hope I didn't rip out the repairs that they had to do to my ankle a few months ago.  That could be ugly!  I got an appointment with my primary care dr for tomorrow morning.  I'm going in to see the orthopedic that did the repairs on the 17th (IF it's still swollen and sore).  The stupid ankle woke me up about every hour last night.

Boston Red Sox fans broke the MLB record for the most sold out home stands.  456 sold out games in Boston and counting.  They haven't had a home game NOT sold out since May 2003.  That's unbelievable!  And Papelbon just got another save to bring Boston to within 1/2 game of Tampa Bay and 1st place in their division.  YEAH!

Have a good night all!  I'll be on more this week since I can't MOVE!  LOL

I'm late

I can say that I'm late with my weekly rambling update.  I've had Little Cousin (LC) here since his aunt and grandparents left for the funeral on Saturday.  All of the cousins that moved here work for the oil rigs and it's a crazy schedule.  LC's dad doesn't have a day off till the 23rd of this month.  I'll have him straight thru till Friday.  He only gets to go home for an hour or 2 a day to see his dad.  Between dad's working 12 hour days and having to sleep sometime and LC in school- I've gotten an extra kid for the week.  Plus I watch the neighbors 3 year old about 3 days a week and get her 7 year old brother off the bus on those days.  I have an easier time with the neighbors kids than I do with LC.  Maybe because LC listens to no one but that aunt that's out of town for the funeral.  Dad has custody and in the almost year that they've been here, his mom has only come to visit one time.  She took him for a week this summer too.  Another one of those dead beat parent things.

~ The funeral for the 6 year old cousin that died will be Thursday night.  Aunt,  uncle and cousin H will be back on Friday.  There were some issues with the funeral.  The dad has custody of this child and mom was supposed to have insurance on the baby.  He was handicapped from birth and didn't have a long life expectancy (I think 10 is the norm for the disease he had?).  Mom let the insurance lapse last month.  They are not doing him like Candy Grandma though.  His dad is one of 10 kids that this aunt and uncle had and all the kids and even some of the grandkids who are grown and married pitched in and took care of business.

~B hates his new team.  They took every kid who signed up for recreational ball and put them on 1 team and then signed this team up for the select league.  There are 12 year olds playing in the 14U division.  It's the "Bad News Bears" all over again.  Despite the fact that B has been pitching for 10 seasons, this coach hasn't given him ONE shot to get on the mound.  It's daddy ball at it's finest.  12 year olds pitch normally at 46 feet.  13 year olds throw from 54.  At 14, they pitching distance moves up to 60 feet which is the same distance the pros pitch at.  One of the coaches has a 12 year old that pitched at 46 feet last season.  B has pitched a year at 54.  Even though this kid is struggling to get the ball across the plate and about 1/3 of his pitches are balls- they still won't give B a chance.  I'm so frustrated.  If they had just given him a chance and the other kids were better than he is- I could totally understand.  And I'm not one of those mom's who think that my kid is the best.  But I do know baseball and I'm hard on my kids.  I expect a lot out of them because I know what he's capable of.  I'm just frustrated that they won't give him a shot.  It's only the kids who's dads are working practice who are getting to pitch.  So, not having a dad is handicapping him with these guys.  And that frustrates me.

~Red Sox come to town this weekend and we have tickets!  Yippee!  I can't wait.

~I got the paperwork mailed to the private child support company.  Here's hoping that they can do something to help me out.  I hear that SD just got a new motorcycle last week and is drunk driving it all over town.  I hope he doesn't kill an innocent person with his stupidity and drunk driving.  He'll probably end up with another felony charge.

Back to the grind.  Trying to catch up on laundry today.  Hope everyone has a great week!

Again?

The Rangers beat the Yankees again?  Wow!  What's up with the little team from TX?  I know it would make my son extremely happy if it went the other way tomorrow night when we're there.  Me- I like the Rangers.  2nd to the Red Sox of course.  (YEAH to the Red Sox for their 8-2 win tonight!).  But my boys are stone cold Yankees fans.  B's whole room is done in Yankees.  Tell me the kid isn't obsessed when his biggest wish for Christmas last year was Yankees bed sheets?  I know that this didn't start to be a blog about baseball.  It's just that this is what's going on in my life right now.  The boys are being fairly peaceful (the calm before the storm?).  B is on break from playing ball.  They're watching the run to the playoffs pretty closely.  Which means of course:  I get to watch the run to the playoffs pretty closely.  B is and has been a big Joe Torre fan.  He was not amused with how his favorite team did his favorite manager this past year.  So he's really hoping that the Dodgers make a run to the playoffs and show Steinbrenner that they screwed up letting Torre go.   I do wish that child would retain the facts that the school tries to drill into his head the way he retains random baseball facts.

Tomorrow I go to the cardiologist.  Scary that is.  I know I HAVE to go.  I really don't WANT to go though.  I'm almost worried about what he'll say.  Maybe I'll get pleasantly surprised huh?

The Ex's cousin, Ms H, and I spoke today.  She wanted to know if the boys would help unload the trailer when it arrives this week.  It's coming by rail.  That really surprised me.  I don't know why it did, but I just never imagined sending your household goods by rail.  silly huh that I never thought of it?  I guess I just thought one of their kids would drive them down.  It was in the paper a few days ago that one of Ex's uncles, *Doogie*,  was arrested (again).  This arrest was for battery. I'm not really sure how he even got out of jail from last time.  I had heard that they hit him for habitual criminal after robbery arrest number *?*.  It really is one of "those" families.  There were 17 kids in his mom's family.  Yes, I said it right- no typo - 17.  It was a blended family of his, hers and ours.  There were 10 of the "ours" and every single boy in that part of the family has been in prison.  His uncle *Tar* did time twice for bank robbery.  (All names have been changed).  His mom has been arrested 18 times for drunk driving.  And for some reason no one ever understood my not wanting his mom to drive my kids around.  She actually did prison time for drunk driving.  His cousin, *Rudy* is on the city that they live ins 10 most wanted list.  That is a joke in itself.  *Rudy* is on for habitual traffic offender.  Now if you'd see this list it reads wanted for: drugs, murder, robbery, assault, and then habitual traffic offender.   He got a DUI and they suspended his license.  He drove to work and got caught.  Repeatedly.  Not for drunk driving anymore.  For driving while suspended.  Now if the city they all live in were any bigger, then the chances of him getting busted driving to work and only to work would have been pretty slim.  Where I live- he could have gotten a hardship license to just drive to work and back.  But when your family owns the biggest tree company in town and there's only a few police in town- the chances of "pulling one over on the police" are SLIM.  And to tell you how absolutely ridiculously the law in this town works:  Last time he got caught he was at the gas station - not driving- not in the truck- just his work truck at the gas station. The officer pulled in said hey *Rudy* how's it going.  I'm going to have to take you in but why don't you go pay for your gas 1st. Then let him go into the store alone to pay for said gas.    *Rudy* immediately went out the back door and climbed a tree then sat there watching while the police hunted for him.  Now, every officer on the force knows that this guy works for a TREE company.  He's been climbing for his dad since he was like 14 (he's about 30 now).  Don't you think they'd look UP.  2 of them stood underneath the tree he was in having a conversation for 20 minutes.  The search moved on, he climbed down and left town.  He was in a work truck in the town that he's been living in for the last year and the truck got pulled over. (no he was not driving this time)  The police took him to jail as when they ran his name they found the warrant out for him.  Like I said *Rudy* is on the 10 most wanted for that city.  The police in the new city ended up letting him go cause small town Indiana didn't want to extradite for habitual traffic offender.  So, STI knows WHERE he is but they don't want to come get him but they still have him on the 10 most wanted.  Makes NO sense to me.  Anyhow though, B immediately said that "sure" he'd go help them unload.  Little Man- well, I'm sure he will but he made no commitment at this point.  He was actually in a good mood today and didn't act too hormonal at all.  ;)

Good night and enjoy your hump day.  We'll be at the Rangers/Yankees game.

I can't believe......

The Rangers beat the Yankees.   Yes, the Rangers have had one of their best seasons lately.  I don't think they've done this well in like 10 years.  But still.... the Yankees are a dynasty.  And a walk off Grand Slam for Marlon Byrd.  Congrats to the Rangers.  I, personally, am still a Red Sox fan first but the Rangers are my 2nd favorite team.  I get to see the Red Sox play in person one time a year if I'm lucky.  We, B and I, go to Ranger games about 3-4 times a month.  B informs me that it was a coaching error.  He says that they pitched a "lefty against a righty when they had a righty warmed up and they should have brought the righty to get a match up".  Now, if that makes ANY sense of all to you- congrats!  That's the 3rd 9th inning win the Rangers have had this week that I know of.  We saw them do it Tuesday and Friday when we were at the games and now tonight.  Unfortunately, my Red Sox lost tonight to Kansas City.  That's fairly unbelievable too.

That I'm having to deal with ANOTHER boy hitting puberty!  I know it happens.  I know its part of life.  But that does NOT make it any easier.  If there is a time in their lives when I totally feel inadequate- it's when they hit this particular stage.  And I will say:  Thank God for older brothers who are right there helping us both live thru this!  And to have the 2 youngest hitting at the same time is cruel and unusual punishment for me.  Although the 13 year old still resembles a human,  the 16 year old is somewhere along the lines of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde right now.  Patience is the name of the game here right now.

That my ex-husbands family has invaded the little town I live in.  Now to show you how unbelievable this is.  Ex and family have all lived in a medium sized town in IN.  After the break up we relocated to TX.  Came down here to where the kids god-parents lived and we had support.  Also for safety reason.  We live in SMALL town TX.  When we moved here- population was under 1300 people and that was counting a population that was 80% cows I think.  The nearest McDonalds was 20 miles down the highway.  The nearest Walmart was across the street from the McDonalds.  No fast food in town.  No stoplight or even a stop sign down the main street.  We've now grown enough that it's only 12 miles to the nearest Walmart and McDonalds.  It's still a town down the highway but still.  We even got a Sonic here in town.  But we're still the proverbial "small town".  I live on a country road that's gravel.  More potholes that you can count.  In the middle of nowhere.   So, what would the chances be that his cousin and another cousins family would both get transferred HERE.  To where I live?  And then what would the chances be that they would both buy houses in my neighborhood?  And then their parents came to visit from IN and they talked the parents into moving here.  So another one of their son's bought them a house.  ON. MY. STREET.  And it's not that I don't like these folks.  I do.  This is the only one of Ex's uncles that hasn't been in prison  (out of like 8 or 9 uncles).  They're really decent nice people.  But still....  I can't believe this!

Well, off to bed.  Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Rude Fans

Update below:

As I sat here tonight watching the all-star game I was absolutely appalled by the poor behavior of the Yankee fans.  I know that the Red Sox and the Yankees have an all consuming rivalry.  It's how I became a Red Sox fan.  My 4 boys are all Yankee fans.  It's absolutely no fun to have everyone on the same page ALL the time.  So, to make matters interesting, I started cheering for the Sox.  Mostly to get the boys worked up.  It was so fun for them to argue with me about which was the better team.  And, I have to admit- I think Derek Jeter is a great player.  Mariano Rivera is one of the best closers to have ever pitched the game.  They have wonderful player after wonderful player.  I think A-Rod is an over-paid, egotistical, jerk - but that comes from him being an absolute ass when one of the boys asked him for an autograph when he was still being over-paid by the Rangers.  I also think Scott Boras announcing his retirement during the World Series last year was totally class-less.

But I digress.  Jonathan Papelbon gave a wonderful interview where he basically bowed down to Rivera.  He said that MR was the "god-father" of relievers.  (which may very well be true).  He was nothing but complimentary about Rivera and it was fairly obvious that Papelbon admired the man.  For some reason- the smut rags that rule New York that seem to be unable to report that truth (must be too boring for them) had to misquote and exaggerate the interview to make trouble.  Due to this irresponsible reporting, Papelbon (along with every other Sox player) was booed during the game.  They were booed during their introductions, when they came on the field, when they came off the field, while they were batting, when they made good plays.  They booed when JD Drew hit the 2 run homer to tie the game.  Come on folks!  This day- this day was for US.  We, the fans, voted the player to play the game.  THEY. WERE. ON. THE. SAME. TEAM. TONIGHT.  It was absolutely classless.  And not ONE of the idiots booing- plays professional ball.  The ones booing were all jerks, idiots, poor sports who just WISH they could be out there playing.  The players were all professional.  They smiled with each other, complimented each other, joked with each other.

I think the rivalry between teams is great.  It makes for a more interesting season.  Gives the fans something to talk about, debate, have fun with.  But, those fans who were out there booing for players during a game when they're on the same team- that's just class-less and they need to grow up and get a life.  That's not playing the game- that's not being a fan- that's just being a jerk.

Just my rant for the night!

Night all

~I'm pleased that the American league team won in the bottom of 15.
~Congrats to Jonathan Papelbon who pitched a great 8th inning for the American League despite the rude Yankee fans trying to distract him and cost the American League the game.
~Congrats to JD Drew for winning MVP for the game
~Congrats to Michael Young of the Rangers for the winning SAC fly!
